Sunday’s Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s aired showcasing Kim’s fitting and arrival at the MET Gala. The night before though, Kanye expresses to Kim that he didn’t like the tight the dress she was going to wear. “You are my wife and it affects me when pictures are too sexy!” Kim was not having it, saying “You built me up to be a sexy person and have confidence! Just because you’re on a journey and you’re in a transformation, doesn’t mean I’m in the same spot with you.”
Let’s go back in time, shall we? Kanye has had his hand in Kim’s fashion since day one. When they first got together, he took it upon himself to go into her closet, get rid of pretty much everything she had, bought her a new wardrobe and put her in touch with fashion designers who he thought would help change her fashion sense. Kim has often talked in interviews about how Kanye has chosen her outfits for different events. We have seen clips or articles from Kanye defending his wife’s photoshoots, selfies, outfits and the like. The famous Paper Magazine photo that “broke the internet,” Kanye was there for the whole thing, praising her for breaking the internet, as well as tweeting nude pictures of her saying “I’m so lucky.”
So why, now, is Kanye so offended with Kim’s choice of wardrobe when he, in fact, played a major role in her fashion choices from the beginning of their relationship? Kanye has given his life to Christ and is making major strides and life choices to be a Christian man. That explains all the Sunday services that Kanye has been having. I must admit, I’m a bit relieved to know that is the reason, but that’s an article for another day. I’m really so glad that Kanye has given his life to Christ, especially since he’d been showing some sketchy behavior over that past few years. But Kim’s preparation for the MET gala for this year, 2019 took over a year to prepare for. I’m confident that he was aware of her outfit had had plenty of time to say something before he decided to drop the bomb on her merely hours before she was to walk down that red carpet.
“Like the corset, underwear, all that vibe, I just feel like I just went through this transition of being a rapper, and lookin’ at all these girls, I didn’t realize that that was affecting like my soul and my spirit.”
Kanye probably should have talked to his wife far in advance and explained to her that he didn’t like the design for the dress and why. This could have opened the door for a much more serious about how his new relationship with God is growing and is changing how he views certain things including those that have to do with his wife. Things could change and evolve gradually and hopefully for the better. Not overnight, right before she is to walk down the red carpet after a year’s worth of preparation.
Now, Kim and Kanye have been together and inseparable since 2012, seven-plus years. During that time, he has changed, tailored and mastered Kim’s wardrobe and fashion choices. She can be seen on many episodes of Keeping Up, contacting Kanye about an outfit she is planning on wearing to get his approval before being photographed, a tv appearance or a red carpet event. While the rest of the world has been criticizing Kim over her sexy selfies, revealing photoshoots and can simply NOT get over her sex tape that she made almost two decades ago, (seriously, people build a bridge and get over it,) Kanye really has built her up to have confidence and be authentic in herself, which yeah, includes being a sexual icon. This kind of change is not going to happen overnight, but it can happen over time. Basically, this is a monster of his own making, you can’t just tame the beast over one conversation. You can’t build something over such a long time and expect someone to just change everything at the drop of a hat.
Kim has taken Kanye’s advice about confidence and being authentic to herself and ran with it. She has built her own empire, established her name in fashion and beauty, and cultured her own relationship with fashion’s most well known and iconic fashion icons in the business. As much as people hate on her, you cannot deny that Kim Kardashian is a force in the industry. When it comes to religion, everyone’s walk is different and very much their own. As a person on my own discovery of who I am in the eyes of God, I find that my convictions are different than they used to be, but I don’t feel the need to convince someone to agree with them. Kanye needs to except that Kim just isn’t on the same journey of self-discovery as he is. While it is amazing that he has given his life to Christ, he has to know that Kim’s own relationship with God and convictions that become apart of it are hers to discover. When she makes that same connection with the Lord, they will hopefully be able to move forward and make changes to their lives as husband and wife or more specifically as a man and woman of God.
